22 Random Facts

I figured that since this will be my first post, it would be fun to do a great big initial post about me, just in case you don't know me in real life, so can understand my unique perspective on life!

1.   Yes, my name is actually Echo. And yes, I do have a sibling, but she has a perfectly normal name (Heather).

2.   I married my high school sweetheart, Nic - we will have been together for ten years this October. I love him very much.

The happiest day of my life
    3.   I have had the same best friends since elementary school; I met Lindsay (a.k.a. "LindsO") and Courtney in kindergarten, and Ashley in grade six. They were all my bridesmaids when Nic and I got married (along with my sister), Ashley was my M.O.H. and I am returning the favour next summer - very exciting!

    4.   My nickname is Peachey (hence the blog title). My friends also have vegetation based nicknames: LindsO is Tomato, Ashley is Potato and Nic is Pickle. It sounds kind of weird as I type it out point-form but they really all did originate for a reason; maybe that will be a future post.

    5.   We have an ADORABLE dog. Her name is Chutney, she is a six year old beagle. Chutney is named as such because she is the current "baby" in Nic and I's family. What do you get when you mix Peaches and Pickles?.... the origin of her name should be clear now.

    6.   I can relate to Mike Myers in So I Married and Axe Murderer. I have a crazy family of Scots, but I love them all - even my in-laws.

    7.   I'm kind of a daddy's girl.

    My first steps

    8.   I LOVE the colour pink.

    9.   I also love unicorns. I realize this is kind of lame, but I am what I am.

    10.   This may not come as a surprise now, but I consider myself to be somewhat of a princess. I wouldn't say I am high maintenance, I just mean that I like to be treated like a lady, I am attracted to and encompass many princess-like traits, and I have a prince charming. I want the world to be happy and be able to burst out in song to convey a current event or emotion. I would also like to think that woodland creatures flock to me looking for friendship.... I watch too many Disney movies. *sidenote: my husband thinks that the most recent Disney princess, Rapunzel of Tangled was modeled after me. Not just for the long blonde hair, but apparently he thinks our personalities are eerily similar.

    11.   I am not ashamed of my nerdy side. In elementary school I loved reading so much that when I ran out of books, I read the dictionary front to back.
I am now told that I use large words too much, in conjunction with the usage of vernacular from generations that precede me. Case in point, "Heaven's to Betsy!", "That is just the bee's knees!" and the like. They just come out of me, I can't explain it. I am also kind of a goody-goody and do not swear.

Probably the nerdiest photo of me ever taken... yes that is my sweatpants hiked WAY up

    12.   I have several features that I think can only be described as genetic mutations:
    1. Abnormally small feet (often a child's size 4) - it actually looks as though my toes are missing a digit.
    2. Ankles that crack when I use stairs, and knees that make a sound like tearing paper when I bend them (don't worry, I've been to the doctor, I'm perfectly fine!).
    3. Legally, I have blue eyes. However, upon closer inspection, one will see that one iris is actually split right down the middle: blue on one side and green on the other.

Yep, those are my mutant feet

      13.   When I was in high school, I fell down an elevator shaft and broke both my heels and got compression fractures in my spine. I don't feel any repercussions, but people never believe that story.

      14.   I am an interior designer, it is a wicked cool job.

      15.   I am a Christian.

      16.   I am genuinely happy with my life. I love to laugh.

      17.  I want to see the world. Europe is at the top of my list, particularly Greece, but really anywhere I studied in Art History at university. I also want to see Scotland being that it is my heritage and all.

      18.   I am a gleek.

      19.   I like to think that I can be pretty gangster given the opportunity. This is admittedly contrary to my other inherent characteristics.

      20.   I love the 1980's.

      21.  When we retire, I hope to have a farm where we can adopt dogs in need. One of every breed would be spectacular, but I would like to start with a Beagle, Great Dane, Saint Bernard, and a Husky.... and maybe a pony.

      22.   Twenty-two is my favourite number.
